After Chef Wei HK Cheong Fun opened in Bedok Central earlier this July, they have been overwhelmed by the support. Queues have been snaking around the block in an unstoppable stream of people looking for Chef Wei’s freshly-made Hong Kong-style cheong fun. Bolstered by such support and demand, Chef-Owner Thoo Chang Wei would be opening two Chef Wei HK Cheong Fun stalls in Clementi and Bukit Panjang on the 7th and 21st September respectively. Both outlets will be serving the same delicious offerings currently available at the Bedok stall.
Chef Thoo says, “I’m amazed and honoured by the positive reception we’ve received from customers since our opening. It has completely surpassed all our expectations and we’re blown away. Customers come down from all parts of the island to try our cheong fun and so we would like to bring our cheong fun to other parts of Singapore as well. We could not have done this without the support of all our customers and I would like to say a big thank you for making this possible. We hope that we will have that same support for the new locations as well.”
The Clementi outlet will open on 7th September 2021 at Block 352 Clementi Avenue 2, a 5 minute bus ride away from Clementi MRT Station. Exactly two weeks from then, the Bukit Panjang outlet will open at Block 257 Bangkit Road, a stone’s throw from Bangkit LRT Station. With these two stalls, now everybody on both coasts of Singapore will be able to enjoy Chef Wei’s signature Mushroom Cheong Fun ($4), as well as the popular Prawn Cheong Fun ($5), Char Siew Cheong Fun ($4) and Plain Cheong Fun ($3).
Chef Thoo is very conscious about maintaining quality across all three outlets in the face of expansion. As such, each outlet will receive the same amount of attention and care from Chef Thoo. He will evenly divide his time overseeing and managing operations across all three outlets throughout the week. He is also personally overseeing all the training of all the kitchen assistants to ensure they are performing to his standards. Chef Thoo says, “Our customers love the cheong fun because everything from the fillings to the sauce are freshly-made. They can feel the love and effort that goes into every dish. We want to provide that same experience across all the stalls and will be maintaining the same standards and quality regardless of which stall they visit”.
