Sports: Singapore Sports Hub celebrates National Day with One Nation, One Hub, One Roar

In celebration of Singapore’s 56th birthday, Singapore Sports Hub has curated a line-up of pandemic-appropriate activities that will bring friends and families together as one, and ignite that ‘can-do’ attitude. From a light display that you get to choose, a virtual GPS hunt, and innovative fitness workouts with a local twist, get ready to reinvigorate your Singapore spirit with Singapore Sports Hub this National Day.

For the first time ever, you get to decide how the National Stadium will be lit up this National Day. Simply log on to their website and vote for your favourite of the three specially-curated light designs by 31st July. Wait with bated breath to see if your choice made the cut on 8th August, when the National Stadium glows up (literally) with the most popular design. Be sure to also tell them what makes you proud to be a Singaporean in your entry because the most inspiring answer will win $560 worth of Kallang Wave Mall vouchers.

Time to put that travel hiking gear to good use, from 6th August, gather your friend or family member for an exciting virtual GPS hunt around Kallang Wave Mall (and the National Stadium). Complete quizzes and e-games across 10 GPS pinned stations, and stand a chance to redeem a goodie bag worth $56. There are over 1,000 goodie bags up for grabs but don’t wait too long, as the early birds will get an additional MOH-approved ART self-test kit in their goodie bags. To redeem your goodie bag, simply present the completion page of the Ultimate Singapore E-Hunt with a receipt of any spending at Kallang Wave Mall. Also from 6th August, join Kallang Wave Mall’s Loyalty Rewards and collect e-stamps with every $56 spent to redeem premiums worth more than $50,000 and an additional $5 Kallang Wave Mall voucher.

Work up a sweat and belt out to your favourite National Day tunes in two specially-themed Experience Sports sessions on 8th August. Get pumped up in the Workout Lah! Cardio Dance class, as you groove to the latest beats with a Singaporean twist. Alternatively, light up the night at the Dance Saber session, as you wield lightsabers and groove to National Day theme songs – like a true Singaporean Jedi. Capacity is limited to just 30 pax per class and will be open for booking from end July onwards.

Miss the good old days when stadiums were filled with cheers and roars? Take a trip down memory lane at the Singapore Sports Museum to relive Singapore’s past sporting glory and aspirations. Check out memorabilia donated by a die-hard Lions fan and let the feels flow. Together with pictures of the Kallang Wave taken during the National Stadium’s heyday, you can almost hear the roar of the fans!

In celebration of National Day, Singapore Sports Hub has also put together a video where patrons, athletes and staff share what it means to be Singaporean.

Mr Lionel Yeo, CEO of Singapore Sports Hub, says: “National Day is always a special time to celebrate Singapore. The lead-up to 9th August during the month of July each year is also special as it marks Singapore Sports Hub’s birthday. The Hub turns six this July, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank partners, friends and family of the Hub for all these great years. We have lined up these activities to bring Singaporeans together to embrace the Singapore spirit. We are one Hub and one Nation and with one roar we celebrate what it means to call Singapore our home!”
